The judoka joined the competition from the second round,<br \/>\nwon over the representative of Israel Tohar Bertbul and the Cuban Magdiel<br \/>\nEstrada and reached to the quarter-final. At this stage, Orujov lost to the<br \/>\nUkrainian opponent Dmitro Kanivets and took part in the repechage matches.
