“Neftchi Sports Club\u201d Public Union consider its priority issues the
\nprotection of the health of oil, gas and chemical industry enterprises workers of
\nSOCAR and their family members. Therefore, the institution organizes
\ncompetitions on various sports among them and helps spending their leisure time
\neffectively.On April 27, the club realized the first open tourism race of the year on
\norienteering among oil, gas and chemical industry workers and other
\norganizations. The competition held in the forest strip between Lake Khojasan
\nand the Baku Shooting Centre and the teams of Geophysics and Geology-1,
\nGeophysics and Geology-2, OGPU named after N. Narimanov, Gas Storages Exploitation Division
\nDepartment, Maintenance and Supply Department, Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery,
\n“Absheron Oil” OGPD, “Gas Export” Department and “28 May\u201d
\nOGPD.The main purposes of the competition were the development of orienteering
\nsport, to instill the the habits of workers to adapt to the natural
\nenvironment, to explore new forms of competition and to promote tourism, as
\nwell as, to identify the members of the national team of “Neftchi Sports Club\u201d.Firstly, the main referee of the competition Natalia Aliyeva and the
\nreferees Suleyman Aliyev, Shahriyar Ismayilov, Faig Aliyev and Tatyana
\nSolovyova gave information to participants about the race and its rules. As a
\nrule, the composition of the team was composed of 5 members (3 men, a woman and
\na representative). In the team race the winner had to be determined by the best
\nresult of 3 men and a woman.The rules of the competition were as follows: 11 control stations for
\nmen and 10 for women had been determined in the forest strip. The length of the
\nroute was 3700 meters for men and 3100 meters for women. Member of the team after
\nhad to take the race map and compass from the starting point, then had to begin
\nto search for control points. There were e-recorders in the control points.
\nAfter finding the electronic point the participant had to include the chips
\ninto the e-recorder. This point had been recording the time and the sequence of
\nthe recording. The race participant had to return to the finish, after finding
\nall of the control points with consistency and present the chip to the brigade
\nof the referees. Member of the team had to get throw the race at the latest 2
\nhours. If the member couldn\u2019t do it, he had to leave the race. The club had also
\nset up diplomas and awards for the individual winners between men and women. Of
\ncourse, this had been creating additional enthusiasm in the active participants
\nof the race. If they had lost in the team score, they would attain a chance winning
\nthe individual competition, at the expense of their personal preferences.The race was being started via the draw and participants were competing
\nindividually. Every two minutes the next team member was getting into the
\nforest strip and then was beginning to search with the help of map and compass
\nin hand. The participants had to work very precisely with a compass and map to
\nreach one point from another point. Otherwise, they would have directed in the
\nwrong direction. Of course, all these were provoking them to be more careful.So, orienteering race ended. According to the general results, the team
\nof “Geophysics and Geology-1\u201d became winner of the race. The team of
\n“Geophysics and Geology-2\u201d was the 2nd and the team of “Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery\u201d was the 3rd.Maxim Bakholdin rose to leadership
\namong the men. Muslum Imranli was the second and Shanlik Fataliyev was the
\nthird. In the individual race of the women Ekaterina Yakovleva became the first.
\nNatalia Shiyanova was the 2ndand Yanina Mashkova was the 3rd.Besides, “Neftchi Sports Club\u201d had also
\nappointed the nominations on participants reaching the finish line in the
\nshortest time. Maxim Bakholdin was winner of the nominations among the men with
\nthe result of 34.39 minutes and Ekaterina Yakovleva was the winner among the
\nwomen with the result of 34.52 minutes.In the end, at the award ceremony the manager on physical training of “Neftchi Sports Club\u201d
\nPublic Union Akif Mammadov made a speech and conveyed greetings and best wishes
\nto all the participants and referees on behalf of head of the administration of
\n“Neftchi\u201d Sports Club Sadig Sadigov. He expressed satisfaction with the
\nparticipation of people from different sectors in the race. The club official
\nspoke about the state care for the sport and the Olympic Movement and emphasizedthe attention to the health of the
\ncitizens of the country. At the end of the speech the speaker expressed deep
\ngratitude to the participants for their active performances and the
\nbrigade of the referees for the excellent organization of the race.In the total team score and individual competitions (men and women) 1st,
\n2nd and 3rd place holders were awarded the diplomas and memorable gifts of “Neftchi
