Our
\nclub has achieved great success in 2015Thanks to the care of our state to physical education and
\nsport, sport in Azerbaijan has begun to grow even faster. In recent years great
\nworks is being done in strengthening of the material-technical base of sport
\nand major projects being carried out. Besides the capital, today, Olympic
\nsports complexes are being constructed with modern international standards in
\ndifferent parts of the country and they have the ability to prepare for
\nhigh-level athletes. Thanks to carefully thought-out, deliberate government
\npolicy and the proper steps of head of Azerbaijan Republic, president of the
\nNational Olympic Committee Ilham Aliyev, our country has become one of Europe’s
\nand the world’s leading sports countries. In recent years, international
\ncompetitions at various levels in our country and high achievements of our
\nathletes are clear evidence of this. As a result of the rapid development of
\nour country and our sport, the first European Games was held in Azerbaijan.”Neftchi\u201d Sports Club always takes an active part in the
\nimplementation of the state policy in the field of sport. So, the club regularly
\norganizes competitions in various sports among oil, gas and chemical industry
\nworkers. At the same time, the club works with all its strength in growing of
\nthe professional athletes and contributes to Azerbaijani sport.During 2015, in the facilities, which operating in
\nstructure of the club, under the guidance of 189 professional coaches on 36
\ntypes of sport, thousands of teenagers and young, as well as more than 900 oil
\nworkers have been engaged in sports.As the main activity of the “Neftchi\u201d Sports club,
\nsignificant steps have been taken, in the direction of modern physical
\neducation and sports services to gas and chemical industry workers and their
\nfamily members, included in the structure of SOCAR. So, among these workers,
\nmassive physical culture, sports events, as well as spartakiades have been
\norganized on mini-football (tournaments dedicated to the 92-th anniversary of
\nthe birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev and 31 December – Solidarity Day of
\nWorld Azerbaijanis), volleyball, table tennis, “Orienteering” and
\n“Father, mother and me\u201d (sport-tourism race dedicated to 1 June – International
\nChildren’s Day) and nearly 1,800 oil workers took part in these competitions.The most grandiose event is Spartakiade,
\nheld with the aim of Popularization of sport, the formation of youth healthy
\nspirit, the organization of leisure time of oil workers and their family
\nmembers and organized in each year September on the eve of the professional
\nholiday of oil workers (20 September
\n\u2013 Oilmen Day). In 2015, XXIIISpartakiad of the oil, gas and chemical industry workers has been held by our
\nclub. 1239 participants have participated in this prestigious competition and
\n293 of them have been women. The participants have competed on 14 kinds of sports (athletics,
\nswimming, mini football, and volleyball, streetball, lifting stone, chess,
\ncheckers, backgammon, table tennis, darts, tug of war, arm wrestling and
\nshooting).In the field of great sports and training professional
\nathletes, great successes have also been gained. Up to now from independence
\nperiod of Azerbaijan, our athletes have taken place in Atlanta, Sydney, Athens,
\nBeijing and London Olympics and have returned to our country with medals. And
\ntoday our athletes are continuing this successful tradition. So, club\u2019s
\ngraduates regularly represent our country honorably in the international
\ncompetitions and continue to magnify our tricolor flag the skies. Only in 2015
\nour sportsmen have gained 1812 medals in the national and international
\ncompetitions, those are 704 gold, 473 silver and 635 bronze medals.In Baku 2015 First European Games, lasted from 12 June to
\n28, more than 6,000 athletes representing 50 countries competed for 253 sets of
\nmedals 20 kinds of sports.With the exception of Russia, Azerbaijani team left behind
\nall the major countries of Europe, won 56 medals at these games and ranked 2nd place
\nin the general team score. 21 gold, 15 silver and 20 bronze medals are the received
\nmedals.”Neftchi\u201d Sports club\u2019s sportsmen have become the largest
\nshareholder in the achievements of “Baku 2015 European Games\u201d. So, during the
\ngames, fan groups have been created consisted of club\u2019s employees, their family
\nmembers, and athletes, in order to support for our sportsmen. Thousand members
\nof these groups have been provided with reflecting in national attributes, our
\nstate flag and emblems of European Games sport shirts and headgears. And these
\nfans have supported club\u2019s athletes under great applause and have encouraged
\nthem to victory.In the first European Games the most of athletes in
\nAzerbaijan national team and winning more medals in these competitions have
\nbeen “Neftchi\u201d Sports Club\u2019s graduates. Our club has been represented by 79
\nathletes in this prestigious race. It should be noted with great pride, 16 of
\nearned 56 medals belongs to “Neftchi\u201d Sports Club\u2019s athletes. These are 6 gold,
\n5 silver and 5 bronze medals. Rasul Chunayev, Elvin Mursaliyev, Togrul Asgarov
\n(all three wrestling), Aykhan Tagizade (taekwondo), Parviz Bagirov (boxing),
\nIlham Zakiyev (judo, paralympic) have won gold medal; Nazaket Khalilova, Islam
\nGasimov (both sambo), Orkhan Safarov (judo), Sevil Bunyatova (fencing, sabla),
\nSabina Abdullayeva (judo, paralympic) have won silver medal; Elman Mukhtarov,
\nHasan Aliyev, Haji Aliyev (all three wrestling), Sevinj Bunyatova (fencing,
\nsabla) and Zakir Mislimov (judo, paralympic) have won bronze medal.Besides, in 2015, from the club’s athletes, weightlifter
\nBoyanka Kostova has won the gold medal at the European and world championships
\nand at the same time, he has updated continental and world records. The
\nbrilliant victories of our wrestlers Haji Aliyev and Rasul Chunayev in the
\nworld championship, renewal the European record by young athlete Nazim Babayev
\nand many records of our paralympians at the European and world championship are
\nmemorable and great successes of the year.It is not accidental, according to the results selected
\nby the Ministry of Youth and Sports, 5 of the most powerful sportsmen and 3 of
\ncoaches of the year are “Neftchi\u201d Sports Club\u2019s representatives.In 2015, in addition to individual kinds of sports, the high
\nresults have also been achieved on types of collective game. So, the men’s
\nvolleyball team in the high league has been the country champion and our futsal
\nteam has become the fourth in the last Azerbaijan championship. In addition, taking
\nplace in the first division of the country championship on football
\n“Garadagh Lokbatan” team has finished championship in the 4th place. Organized
\nby the Baku City Youth and Sport Head Department, in the Baku club team football
\ncompetition on four age groups, “Neftchi\u201d Sports Club has been represented in all
\nage groups. Our team (born in 1999) has taken action successfully and has been
\nwinner of the capital championship. “Neftchi\u201d Sports Club\u2019s teams are
\ncontinuing their performances successfully in Azerbaijan and Baku championships,
\nas well as, in “Sabahin Ulduzlari\u201d capital championship (organized by Baku
\nFootball Federation) on different age groups.All these mentioned successes only a small part of club
\nachievements over the years. All these indicators prove that, “Neftchi\u201d Sports
\nClub is a leader sport society in the country. But we are not satisfied with
\nthese successes. On the contrary, we intend to rise to more lofty heights with
\nconfidence and to march with determination on this road.Right now, our main goal is better preparation toRio2016SummerOlympics, worthy representation our
\ncountry over there and to return homeland with high achievements. We work hard
\nto reach our goal and we have mobilized all our efforts in this direction.Of course, President of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev has
\nundeniable role of attention and care to the athletes on a regular basis, in
\nachieving of these successes. Thanks to his close support, all conditions have
\nbeen created for our athletes, on the road to success. He has held a meeting
\nwith “Neftchi\u201d Sports Club\u2019s athletes, who won medals in Baku 2015 European
\nGames, and with their coaches. Company director has congratulated club
\nrepresentatives on the occasion of the great success and he has rewarded them
\nwith money and memorable gifts. And it\u2019s obvious proof that, Rovnag Abdullayev
