“Neftchi” Sports Club achieved remarkable results in 2025

One of the main priorities in the activities of the “Neftchi” Sports Club is to provide sustainable support for the development of Azerbaijani sports and to contribute to this field. In this regard, we can say that 2025 was one of the memorable years for the club. During the past year, in addition to organizing regular competitions in various sports among oil, gas, and chemical industry workers, our club has also been successful in training professional athletes. In the year we left behind, “Neftchi” Sports Club achieved numerous accomplishments. During the year, more than 2000 teenagers and young people, as well as hundreds of oil workers, regularly engaged in sports under the leadership of 117 professional coaches in 26 sports disciplines at the sports facilities operating within the club’s structure. In 2025, the club provided free physical education and sports services to the employees working in the oil, gas, and chemical industry enterprises included in the structure of SOCAR and their family members. Within this framework, tournaments were organized in table tennis, backgammon, chess, 3×3 basketball, volleyball, swimming, archery, mini-football, beach volleyball, cycling, athletics, billiards, and shooting. Nearly a thousand oil workers participated in the aforementioned competitions. Based on the results of these competitions, the rosters of SOCAR’s national teams in those sports were determined, and these teams participated in each of the 18 competitions held by the Ministry of Youth and Sports among employees of state institutions throughout the year. Our representatives performed successfully in these tournaments and won a total of 26 medals in 14 sports, including 6 gold, 10 silver, and 10 bronze. It is gratifying that SOCAR, whose employees performed confidently throughout the year in all tournaments organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, took second place among state institutions at the end of the year. In 2025, numerous successes were also achieved in the field of elite sports and the preparation of professional athletes. Open championships of the “Neftchi” Sports Club were held in various sports, where hundreds of athletes demonstrated their skills. The club’s trainees achieved high results in the VI Islamic Solidarity Games, the III CIS Games held in our country, the European and World Championships among teenagers, youth, and adults, as well as other prestigious international tournaments, and republican and capital-scale competitions. In total, our athletes won 1172 medals in these competitions, including 411 gold, 314 silver, and 447 bronze. The past year was successful for “Neftchi” Sports Club not only in individual combat sports but also in team sports. The “Neftchi” Sports Club basketball team took second place in the Azerbaijan Championship in the 2024/2025 season and competed in the group stage of the FIBA Europe Cup for the first time in its history, finishing this stage with 9 points. Our futsal team won the bronze medal in the High League last season. It should be noted that at the “Sports Results of the Year” event of the Ministry of Youth and Sports dedicated to the sports results of 2025, an award ceremony was held for the winners of the year in various categories. “Neftchi” Sports Club took second place in the “Best Sports Club” of the year category.
