The “Neftchi” Sports Club held the Greco-Roman wrestling championship among juniors (2011-2013). More than 90 athletes competed in 10 weight categories in the competition dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev and organized in the wrestling hall of the Tofig Ismayilov Olympic Training and Sports Complex in the Surakhani settlement.
The main purpose of holding the tournament was to solemnly celebrate the 102nd anniversary of the birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev among junior athletes, to check the level of preparation of athletes, to identify young and promising athletes, and to determine the national team of the “Neftchi” Sports Club in that age group.
In the championship, which was held in a tense competition, Ravil Mammadov (26 kg), Zaur Mirzafarov (29 kg), Osman Tarverdiyev (32 kg), Jahid Feyzullayev (35 kg), Umud Aliyev (38 kg), Khoshbakht Mammadov (41 kg), Murad Abdullazade (44 kg), Sadig Velizade (48 kg), Omar Abdullazada (52 kg) and Safar Abdullaev (57 kg) defeated all their rivals and won the title of tournament winner.
The wrestlers who took the podium were awarded with diplomas, medals and valuable souvenirs from the “Neftchi” Sports Club.
