The classics competition was concluded at the Azerbaijan Championship in Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling held at the Baku Sports Palace.

Greco-Roman wrestlers of “Neftchi” Sports Club demonstrated great determination and won 27 medals (9 gold, 7 silver, 11 bronze) of the competition and became the winners of the Azerbaijan Championship in the overall team score.

Our representatives Elmir Aliyev (55 kg), Sakit Guliyev (63 kg), Farid Khalilov (67 kg), Farahim Mustafayev (72 kg), Sanan Suleymanov (77 kg), Tunjay Vazirzada (82 kg), Islam Abbasov (87 kg), Murad Ahmadiyev (97 kg) and Beka Kandelaki (130 kg) completed all the matches with victories and became the national champions. Only Rashad Mammadov (55 kg), Ziya Zeynalov (60 kg), Ziya Babashov (63 kg), Khalid Hasanov (72 kg), Lachin Valiyev (87 kg), Mahammad Ahmadiyev (97 kg) and Sarkhan Mammadov (130 kg), who lost in the decisive final match, were awarded silver medals.

Our other wrestlers – Farid Sadikhli, Ibrahim Nurullayev (both 55 kg), Murad Mammadov, Nihat Guluzade (both 60 kg), Said Khalilov (63 kg), Mahammad Gasimzade (67 kg), Seymur Gasimov (72 kg), Davud Mammadov (77 kg), Said Akhundzade (87 kg), Arif Niftullayev and Ali Guliyev (both 97 kg) – took the third place.
