Club Athletes finished the Year with 1,172 MedalsOne of the key priorities of Neftchi Sports Club is to provide continuous support for the development of Azerbaijani sports and to contribute to this field. In this regard, 2025 can be described as one of the most memorable years in the club’s history. Throughout the year, the club not only organized regular competitions in various sports among employees of the oil, gas, and chemical industries, but also successfully carried out activities aimed at training professional athletes.
In the year just concluded, Neftchi Sports Club achieved numerous accomplishments. Over the course of the year, more than 2,000 children and young people, as well as hundreds of oil industry employees, regularly trained in sports facilities operating under the club’s structure across 26 sports disciplines, under the guidance of 117 professional coaches.
In 2025, the club provided free physical education and sports services to employees of oil, gas, and chemical industry enterprises within SOCAR’s structure, as well as to their family members. Within this framework, tournaments were organized in table tennis, backgammon, chess, 3×3 basketball, volleyball, swimming, archery, mini-football, beach volleyball, cycling, athletics, billiards, and shooting sports. Nearly 1,000 oil workers took part in these competitions.
Based on the results of these tournaments, the line-ups of SOCAR’s national teams in the respective sports were determined. These teams participated throughout the year in all 18 competitions held among employees of state institutions by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Our representatives performed successfully, winning a total of 26 medals across 14 sports disciplines — 6 gold, 10 silver, and 10 bronze. Notably, SOCAR, whose employees confidently competed in all tournaments organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports throughout the year, finished second among state institutions at the end of the year.
In 2025, significant achievements were also recorded in elite sports and the preparation of professional athletes. Open championships organized by Neftchi Sports Club were held across various sports disciplines, with hundreds of athletes showcasing their skills.
The club’s athletes achieved high results at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, the 3rd CIS Games held in Azerbaijan, as well as at European and World Championships among cadets, juniors, and seniors, in addition to other prestigious international tournaments and national and city-level competitions. Overall, Neftchi athletes claimed a total of 1,172 medals: 411 gold, 314 silver, and 447 bronze.
In the past year, Neftchi Sports Club also achieved success in team sports, alongside combat sports disciplines.The club’s basketball team finished second in the Azerbaijani Championship during the 2024/2025 season and, for the first time in its history, competed in the group stage of the FIBA Europe Cup, concluding the stage with nine points. Meanwhile, the futsal team won bronze medals in the Premier League last season.
It should be noted that during the “Sports Results of the Year” ceremony dedicated to the sports achievements of 2025, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, winners in various nominations were awarded. Neftchi Sports Club took second place in the “Best Sports Club of the Year” category.
Club representatives Jala Aliyeva and Hasrat Jafarov were named the Best Female Athlete and Best Male Athlete of the Year, respectively. Another Neftchi athlete, Isa Rustamov, placed third among the year’s best athletes. Notably, all three awards in the “Best Paralympian of the Year” category went to representatives of Neftchi Sports Club: Ilham Zakiyev took first place, Roman Salei finished second, and Kamran Zeynalov ranked third.
