The U-20 Azerbaijan Wrestling Championship continues at the Ganja Sports Palace, with the freestyle competition concluding today.
“Neftchi” Sports Club’s freestyle wrestlers showed outstanding determination, winning 20 medals (10 gold, 3 silver, 7 bronze) and claiming first place in the team standings.
Gold medals were won by: Mohammad Ismayilov (57 kg), Jamal Abbasov (61 kg), Bashir Verdiyev (65 kg), Haji Karimov (70 kg), Nurlan Aghazade (74 kg), Eljan Ismayilzade (79 kg), Mohammad Abbaszade (86 kg), Huseyn Mammadtaghizade (92 kg), Farhad Suleymanli (97 kg), and Yusif Dursunov (125 kg).
Silver medals went to: Agha Gasimov (65 kg), Sadiq Huseynov (70 kg), and Ismayil Rahimli (74 kg).
Bronze medals were claimed by: Huseyn Huseynov (57 kg), Huseyn Ismayilov (65 kg), Isa Yusibov, Kamal Mammadov (both 70 kg), Heydarali Saidov (74 kg), Vugar Humbatov (86 kg), and Ismayil Karimov (125 kg).
Notably, this result marks a historic first in Azerbaijan, as Neftchi’s wrestlers won gold in all 10 weight categories at a national freestyle championship.
Earlier, the club’s Greco-Roman wrestlers had also secured 10 medals (3 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze), finishing second overall.
