Three more Greco-Roman wrestlers of the “Neftchi” Sports Club were among the winners of the U-23 European Championship held in Zrenjanin, Serbia. One of our athletes, Elmin Aliyev (82 kg), defeated his Georgian rival Tornike Mikeladze with a score of 3:2 in the final and became the European champion. Farid Khalilov (67 kg) and Farahim Mustafayev (72 kg) took third place.
It should be noted that earlier, one of the Greco-Roman wrestlers of our club, Farid Sadikhli (55 kg), won a silver medal. Among the female wrestlers, Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg) became the European champion, and Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg) took second place. Our freestyle wrestlers Jeyhun Allahverdiyev (61 kg) and Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) won silver medals, and Zafar Aliyev (97 kg) won bronze medals.
