The European Judo Championship, held in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, is ongoing.

Today, another judoka from the “Neftchi” Sports Club, Hidayat Heydarov, stepped onto the tatami. Competing in the 73 kg weight category, the Olympic champion advanced to the final by defeating Konstantinos Tsaparas (Greece) in the Round of 32, Dardan Cena (Kosovo) in the Round of 16, Dayyan Boulmtapes (France) in the quarterfinals, and Turkey’s Bilal Ciloglu in the semifinals.

In the decisive match, Heydarov was defeated by Georgia’s Lasha Shavdatuashvili. As a result, the four-time European champion claimed the silver medal at the continental championship for the second time in his career.

It should be noted that yesterday, another judoka from our club, Ahmad Yusifov (60 kg), won a bronze medal at the tournament. The prestigious competition, featuring 400 athletes from 46 countries, will conclude on April 19.
