Sabir Zeynalov, a representative of the “Neftchi” Sports Club, secured a podium finish at the European Para-taekwondo Championships held in Munich, Germany.
Competing in the K44 category (58 kg weight class), our Paralympian advanced to the semifinals after defeating Poland’s Kasjan Mikolajczak in the quarterfinals. In the semifinal round, Zeynalov secured a place in the final by walkover, as his opponent, Ali Can Ozcan of Turkey, was unable to compete due to injury.
In the final match, Sabir Zeynalov faced the Israeli Paralympic champion, Asaf Yasur. Despite a strong performance, he was defeated in the final round, earning the silver medal—the first European Championship medal of his career.
