Neftchi Sports Club has held a judo tournament dedicated to September 27 – Remembrance Day. Organized by Neftchi Sports Club at the Sumgayit Training and Sports Hall, the competition brought together nearly 100 athletes born in 2015–2016, who competed for medals across seven weight categories.

The main aim of the tournament was to commemorate the memory of the martyrs of the Patriotic War, pass on their heroic legacy to the younger generation, and strengthen the spirit of patriotism among young athletes.

The event also aimed to identify talented and promising athletes and recruit them into the club’s selection groups, assess their physical fitness, and provide them with greater competitive experience.

Before the start of the tournament, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, followed by the national anthem.

Following intense and exciting competition, winners were determined in all weight categories. The medalists received diplomas, medals, and commemorative gifts from Neftchi Sports Club.

Members of martyrs’ families also attended the tournament as honorary guests. The award ceremony for the winners was particularly memorable, with the medals presented jointly by Neftchi Sports Club Executive Director Faraj Aliyev, other club officials, and members of martyrs’ families.
