The Azerbaijan Championship in Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling has come to an end. In the last days of the competition held at the Baku Sports Palace, freestyle wrestlers took to the carpet.

Freestyle wrestlers of “Neftchi” Sports Club fought confidently, winning 22 medals (6 gold, 5 silver, 11 bronze) of the competition and taking first place in the overall team score.

Our athletes Nuraddin Novruzov (61 kg), Rashid Babazada (65 kg), Kanan Heybatov (70 kg), Turan Bayramov (74 kg), Arseniy Dzhioyev (86 kg) and Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) defeated all their rivals and rose to the highest step of the podium. Jeyhun Allahverdiyev (61 kg), Aganazar Novruzov (74 kg), Farid Jabbarov (79 kg), Orkhan Abbasov (86 kg) and Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) were awarded silver medals, Elman Aghayev, Muhammad Ismayilov (both 57 kg), Aliabbas Rzazadeh, Farhad Hajiyev (both 61 kg), Ali Rahimzadeh, Murad Hagverdiyev (both 65 kg), Omar Gulmammadov (70 kg), Nurlan Aghazadeh (74 kg), Sahib Dadashov (79 kg), Shamistan Akhundov (92 kg) and Zafar Aliyev (97 kg) were awarded bronze medals.

It should be noted that previously, Greco-Roman wrestlers of our club won 27 medals (9 gold, 7 silver, 11 bronze) of the championship and became the winners of the Azerbaijan championship in the overall team score.
