Neftçi Sports Club representative Ilham Zakiyev (J1, +95 kg) delivered a confident performance at the European Para Judo Championships in Heidelberg, Germany, winning the gold medal.

In the semifinal, Zakiyev faced Great Britain’s Daniel English and secured an ippon victory to advance to the final. In the decisive bout, he also defeated Spain’s Garros Suarez by ippon to claim the European title.

With this victory, Ilham Zakiyev has become European champion for the tenth time in his career.

The club’s other para judokas — Saleh Sultanov (J1, 81 kg), Khatira Ismiyeva (J1, +70 kg), and Dursadaf Karimova (J2, +70 kg) — also won bronze medals at the tournament.
