The Azerbaijan Championship in judo among men and women has concluded. In the competition organized at the Baku Sports Palace, 206 judokas (154 men, 52 women) from 50 clubs and sports societies competed in 14 weight categories.

Representatives of “Neftchi” Sports Club performed confidently, winning 14 medals (4 gold, 3 silver, 7 bronze) of the tournament and taking first place in the overall team score.

Our judokas Balabey Aghayev (60 kg), Konul Aliyeva (48 kg), Aydan Valiyeva (52 kg) and Vusala Hajiyeva (57 kg) won all their matches and became champions of Azerbaijan. Suleyman Shukurov (81 kg), Leyla Aliyeva (52 kg) and Gulnara Bayramova (57 kg) were awarded silver medals only after losing in the decisive final match. Our other athletes – Nariman Mizrayev (73 kg), Jasur Ibadli (81 kg), Gultaj Mammadaliyeva (52 kg), Ayan Aliyeva, Nargiz Hajiyeva (both 63 kg) and Jala Mammadova (78 kg) – took third place.

It should be noted that the women’s team of “Neftchi” Sports Club took third place in the team competition held on the last day of the competition.
