The 42nd Azerbaijan Indoor Athletics Championship, jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation, has concluded. About 160 athletes representing Baku, Ganja, Barda, Ismayilli, Gadabay, Khizi and Ordubad competed for medals in the competition held at the Athletics Center. The championship program included triple jump, long jump, high jump, shot put, 60 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, 1500 m, 3000 m running and 4×200 m relay.
Lamiya Valiyeva, one of the athletes of the “Neftchi” Sports Club, was remembered for her successful performance in the 60 and 200 meter running and won gold medals. Bulbul Babayev achieved the same success in the high jump and Ismayil Aliyev in the shot put, reaching the highest step of the championship. Another of our athletes, Raul Nasibov, was awarded a bronze medal in the triple jump.
