The U-17 European Wrestling Championship held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, has concluded. The freestyle wrestlers of the “Neftchi” Sports Club, who are part of the Azerbaijani national team, finished the continental championship with a set of medals. One of our representatives, Said Pashayev (92 kg), faced Russian Abdurazak Shabanov in the final match. After a tense fight with a score of 6:5, our athlete became the European champion for the second time. Interestingly, Said Pashayev, who won the title of the strongest on the continent in Greco-Roman wrestling last year, achieved the same success this time in freestyle wrestling.Hasan Hasanov (60 kg) also advanced to the final. However, he lost to Ukrainian Zorab Aloyev by a minimal margin (4:5) in the decisive match and was awarded a silver medal. Our other wrestler Hakim Taghiyev (110 kg) took the third place.

It should be noted that previously, our club’s Greco-Roman wrestlers Abdurrahman Huseynli (45 kg) and Rihad Ibrahimli (110 kg) won gold medals, and Gurban Majnunov (48 kg) won bronze medals.
