Sadig Asaf Sadigov was born in 1965. He graduated from the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute. During the periods in which he headed various sports societies and clubs, Azerbaijani athletes achieved numerous successes at the Olympic Games, as well as at World and European Championships.
For his services to sports, Sadig Sadigov was awarded an honorary title and a medal by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. In 2008, he received the honorary title of “Honored Physical Education and Sports Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” and in 2011 he was awarded the “Progress” Medal.
From 2009 to 2015, Sadig Sadigov served as the President of the “Neftchi” Professional Football Club. Under his leadership, Neftchi became the champion of Azerbaijan three times and won the national cup twice. In 2012, the Neftchi team became the first in the history of Azerbaijani football to participate in the group stage of a prestigious tournament such as the UEFA Europa League.
He is currently the Advisor to the Chairman of the Management Board of the “Neftchi Sports Club” Public Union.
