The European Weightlifting Championship among master athletes, which started on May 2 in the Albanian city of Durres, continues.
Azerbaijani athlete Vagif Musadiq (81 kg) performed confidently in the competition and achieved great success. Thus, the athlete lifted 72 kilograms in the snatch and 90 kilograms in the clean and jerk. The athlete, who showed a total result of 162 kilograms (72+90), became the winner of the European Championship.
Thus, he set a new record and became the only European champion among Azerbaijanis and Muslims who reached the age of seventy.
It should be noted that Vagif Musadiq worked as an athlete at the “Neftchi” Sports Club in 1970-1982, and as a coach and head coach from 1983 to 2021. During his many years as a coach, his players have represented our club with national and international tournaments, achieving great success.
