Freestyle wrestlers of Neftchi Sports Club claimed three medals on the sixth day of the U17 European Wrestling Championships held in Samokov, Bulgaria.
Among our athletes, Nihad Suleymanli (80 kg) became European champion after defeating Turkey’s Emirhan Cayir by technical superiority (10–0) in the final. Rashid Nazarov (65 kg) earned a silver medal after losing to Russia’s Maksim Mongush (2–14) in the decisive bout. Meanwhile, Hakim Tagiyev (110 kg) secured a bronze medal by defeating Belarusian wrestler Daniil Zhivula 3–1 in the third-place match.
It should be noted that earlier in the championship, Neftchi Sports Club’s Greco-Roman wrestlers also achieved notable success. Gurban Majnunov (55 kg) won a silver medal, while Huseyn Mustafazade (51 kg), Orkhan Habibli (65 kg), and Zohrab Safarov (92 kg) each claimed bronze medals.
