The U20 European Wrestling Championship, held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, has concluded.

Representatives of the “Neftchi” Sports Club delivered an impressive performance, winning a total of 12 medals at the prestigious competition: 3 gold, 3 silver, and 6 bronze medals.

Among our freestyle wrestlers, Haji Karimov (70 kg) and Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) claimed gold medals at the European Championship. Jamal Abbasov (61 kg) and Nurlan Agazade (74 kg) won silver medals, while Muhammad Ismayilov (57 kg), Bashir Verdiyev (65 kg), Mahammad Abbaszade (86 kg), and Farhad Suleymanli (97 kg) secured bronze medals.

It is worth highlighting that all medals won by the Azerbaijan national freestyle wrestling team were achieved by athletes representing our club.

Among our women’s wrestlers, Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg) became the European champion, while Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg) earned a silver medal.

Our club’s Greco-Roman wrestlers also finished the continental championship on the podium, with Ayxan Javadli (60 kg) and Elmin Aliyev (82 kg) both winning bronze medals.
