The U20 European Wrestling Championship continues in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.

Today, “Neftchi” Sports Club freestyle wrestler Haji Karimov (70 kg) defeated Bulgaria’s Vladislav Seyzov and Slovakia’s Dominik Zavacky with the same scoreline (10:0) to advance to the semi-finals. In this stage, our athlete overcame Russia’s Ramazan Abdulkadirov with a score of 7:0.

In the decisive final bout, Haji Karimov delivered a dominant performance against France’s Bayssangur Bitmurzayev, winning 10:0 and becoming the European champion.

Other freestyle wrestlers representing our club — Muhammad Ismayilov (57 kg), Bashir Verdiyev (65 kg), and Farhad Suleymanli (97 kg) — won bronze medals.

It should be noted that in the previous days of the competition, our women’s wrestler Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg) became the European champion, while Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg) won the silver medal. Among the Greco-Roman wrestlers, Ayxan Javadli (60 kg) and Elmin Aliyev (82 kg) secured bronze medals at the prestigious tournament.
